NBC Universal

Information Management Leadership Program Associate

  • Two-year IT rotational program through all of the functional areas of NBC Universal

  • 1st Rotation- Digital Content Solutions (August 6, 2008 to February 6, 2009):
    • Standardized the way our application owners interact with ClearQuest (a tool used to log bug, defect and enhancement tickets for these apps.). Management now has accurate data to make credible business decisions

    • Ensured team can continue to take on support of additional applications while keeping costs flat, and is able to avoid costs of $100,000 in 2009, by concentrating efforts in supporting break/fix work, and focusing on our priority applications

    • Learned how to manage a portfolio of applications that serve over 2,500 global clients, and how important it is to have a standard process around maintaining these applications

  • 2nd Rotation- Information Security (February 6, 2009 to August 1, 2009):
    • Worked with information security in identifying 1,000+ company assets that were unpatched, leading to rampant virus spread

    • Developed process and got agreement on 1 tool and process across 9 different business groups for handling assets that require special handling in patching windows, exemptions from security software, etc

    • Improved overall security posture at NBCU, enforces corporate security mandates, and established sustainable business process change

  • 3rd Rotation- Sports & Olympics Technologies (August 1, 2009 - March 1, 2010):
    • Lead over 80 hours of integration testing between EVS (tool used to create content), OTTO (tool used to plan and track content) & MICAH (Media Interchange & Content Asset Hosting- used to transcode and distribute content). Lead the bug/enhancement tracking and development amongst all parties.

    • Managed a team of 14, and led the creation and timely delivery of over 1,500 video pieces to NBCOlympics.com and all our major outlets. 38 million videos were viewed on our .com website in-games

  • 4th Rotation- Commercial Machine Control Upgrade (March 2, 2010 - September 24, 2010):
    • Managed a team of 5, and led the deployment of new networking scheme and DNF vendor equipment in 9 studios.

    • Lead over 40 hours of integration testing with the system. Setup a sample control room system to execute testing, and managed all bug/enhancement tracking.

  • Wrote business plan, pitched to angel investors, negotiated with local RFID suppliers to loan equipment to beta test with, competed in poster and pitch session in front of a crowd of 150

  • Awarded first place in the undergraduate category
